AVC-SS-25 | Masonry Units, Mortar & Weather Control Checklist
Original editable single-storey construction Word checklist for masonry units, mortar & weather control checklist. Its technical controls are drawn from the attached source form rather than a generic masonry template.
WHEN TO COMPLETE THIS SOURCE-ORIGINAL WORKFACE DOCUMENT
Use when masonry materials arrive and throughout walling to verify unit quality, mortar control, storage and protection of fresh work. Use before poor material, inconsistent mortar or weather exposure becomes hidden in finished walling.
FIRST PRINTED MASONRY, GEOMETRY AND SUPPORT CONTROLS
1. Masonry unit type, dimensions/class/strength or manufacturer specification matches the approved wall system and project information. 2. Delivery batches are visually checked for damage, severe dimensional variation, contamination, salt staining or other conditions that may affect workmanship/finish. 3. Units are stacked on stable ground and protected from mud, excessive saturation and damage; different products/batches are identified where appearance matters. 4. Cement, lime/additives and other mortar materials are stored dry and protected from contamination or expired/deteriorated stock. 5. Mortar mix/batching method follows the project specification or approved system and is consistent between crews/batches. 6. Water addition is controlled to produce workable mortar without excessive wetting, segregation or uncontrolled retempering of old material.
REMAINING SOURCE POINTS AND RELEASE REQUIREMENTS
7. Mortar is used within a suitable working period for the selected materials/weather and contaminated or partially set mortar is rejected. 8. Bed/perp joints are fully filled and tooled/finished as required for the selected wall/finish rather than relying on later plaster to hide voids. 9. Fresh walling is protected from heavy rain, washout, rapid drying, impact and premature loading until stable. 10. Hot, dry or windy conditions are managed so masonry/mortar do not lose moisture so rapidly that bond and curing are compromised. 11. Overnight or shutdown protection prevents water collecting in open cavities, cores or unfinished wall tops. 12. Any weather-damaged, washed-out or disturbed walling is repaired/rebuilt before further lifts conceal the defect. Mark OK / N/A / HOLD, actual measurements and sign the inspection or HOLD/RE-CHECK decision.
STRUCTURAL PATH, DPC, LOADBEARING AND TECHNICAL LIMITS
Use approved architectural/engineer details, inspected bearing and wall geometry, masonry reinforcement, proper service and opening support, DPC/DPM/weatherproofing protection, competent roof or slab structural path releases, temporary support and safe access. This form does not replace an engineer's design, current authority approvals or statutory certification.
