AVC-F29 | Foundation Walling & Plinth Checklist
Original editable Foundation & Substructure Word technical inspection checklist for foundation walling & plinth checklist. The actual source document includes 22 printed workface control points; the listing below follows those requirements rather than generic construction claims.
WHEN TO COMPLETE THIS ORIGINAL FOUNDATION OR SLAB CONTROL
Use before and during foundation walling / plinth construction. Confirm that the foundation is a suitable receiver and that wall geometry, thickness, bonding, levels and damp-control interfaces remain consistent with approved information.
SOURCE-ORIGINAL INSPECTION POINTS — FIRST GROUP
1. Foundation concrete has been accepted for walling and any required foundation-stage handover information is available. 2. Bearing surface is reasonably clean, sound and free of mud, standing water, loose spoil or weak edge material. 3. Wall lines / centres are re-established from protected control rather than copied from disturbed trench marks. 4. Wall position on strip / base is checked so unintended eccentric bearing is not being built into the load path. 5. Stepped foundations, local widenings and changes in level are understood before brickwork starts. 6. Starter bars, column positions and other structural interfaces that walling must accommodate are identified. 7. Required wall thickness / cavity arrangement is confirmed from the current approved information for the zone. 8. Masonry units and mortar are suitable for the specified below-ground / plinth condition. 9. Walling is kept plumb, aligned and properly bonded through corners, returns and junctions. 10. Cavities / cores intended to remain open are kept reasonably clear of excessive mortar droppings and debris. 11. Cavities / cores intended for filling, reinforcement or other treatment are built to allow the specified work to be completed.
REMAINING INSPECTION CONTROLS AND EVIDENCE-BASED RELEASE
12. Openings / sleeves through foundation walls are formed deliberately rather than broken through later without coordination. 13. Wall-to-column and other interfaces follow the intended tie / separation detail rather than being improvised. 14. Plinth top / DPC level is checked from the datum before walling fixes the final height. 15. DPC support is smooth and continuous enough for the intended damp-control detail. 16. External ground / paving relationship is considered so later work does not bridge the damp line. 17. Drainage / service penetrations through the wall are at the correct location and level before backfill. 18. Areas requiring coating, tanking, drainage or protection before backfill are identified before they become inaccessible. 19. Photographs / evidence of concealed walling, starters, sleeves or special details are captured before filling / backfill. 20. Wall / plinth geometry is suitable to receive the planned fill, slab edge and superstructure set-out. 21. Any cracked, displaced, poorly bonded or incorrectly positioned work is corrected / referred before concealment. 22. No unresolved design, level, moisture or structural interface issue requires walling / filling to remain on hold. Enter genuine OK / N/A / HOLD, dimensional and laboratory-test results, condition photos and a named corrective owner; require applicable professional or competent RELEASE, HOLD or RE-CHECK before concealment, loading, casting or backfill.
GEOTECHNICAL, TEMPORARY WORKS, GROUNDWATER AND TECHNICAL LIMITS
Use latest engineer, geotechnical and approved civil drawings, verified levels/strata, service surveys, safe excavations and ground support, relevant dewatering, waterproofing, structural steel/concrete testing, local authority and specified witness/hold points. This editable checklist cannot issue an engineer's approval, permit excavation without proper support or replace statutory inspections.
