369 / AW-TT02 — MINE OPERATING INTERFACE & HANDOVER
WHY THE RAIL INTERFACE MUST BE BRIEFED
Rail shunting, stockyard vehicle traffic, conveyor routes and train loadout often overlap contractor work. AW-TT02 is a one-page surface-mine toolbox talk to identify those interfaces before work or a shift transfer. Exposed workers need to know if a wagon chute or traction line is still live and what stays segregated or isolated.
SIX PRINTED WORKFACE BRIEFING POINTS
1) Separate stockyard traffic, rail shunting and conveyor routes from contractor crews. 2) Positively isolate wagon loading chutes, stacker/reclaimer and tripper motions. 3) Identify overhead traction, crossings and traction-return electrical hazards. 4) Control stockpile stability, engulfment and suspended reclaimers before access. 5) Evidence track gauge, switches, signalling and weighbridge calibrations. 6) Witness interlocking and train-movement tests after modifications. Relate every check to the actual siding or loadout.
WHERE, WHEN AND WHO SHOULD DELIVER IT
The nominated presenter briefs crews beside the rail siding, crossing, loadout, stockpile or conveyor interface before workface entry and after a changed shift, permit, hazard or mine instruction. Confirm rail possession, track occupation, work-area separation and responsible rail/stockyard authority. At a contractor-to-operator handover, identify unresolved defects and who controls movement restart.
HOW TO USE THE ORIGINAL WORD ATTENDANCE FORM
Enter MINE / AREA / DATE / SHIFT and PERMIT / PRESENTER. Discuss all six numbered hazards against actual equipment, exclusion routes and mine control. Record corrective actions in the workpack or permit evidence. The editable A4 DOCX provides 16 NAME / EMPLOYEE OR ACCESS NO. and SIGNATURE lines. Crew members sign after briefing; this records communication, not operating authority.
STOP, WITHDRAW AND RELEASE LIMIT
STOP / WITHDRAW / NOTIFY MINE CONTROL applies to uncontrolled train movement, unstable stockpiles, live traction or missing rail possession. Only the mine-authorised official releases the affected system or zone for restart. This talk is not a rail possession, switching permit, train-movement authorisation or isolation clearance.
THE SINGLE, PACKAGE OR COMPLETE MINING FILE
This original editable Word form costs R12.95 and is included in the 386-document Surface Mining Checklist Package and the complete Surface Mining Contractor H&S File. Both include the 386 originals; the full file adds the contractor management system and trade annexures. Try a Single first; avoid duplicating purchases.
