It begins with mine roads-owner approval of the traffic plan and active diversion so the correct route is known before trucks and contractor equipment enter it.
THE MINE-SPECIFIC RISK AND SAFETY DECISION
A truck driver cannot compensate for a failed tip-head bearing surface, a wrongly planned intersection or a missing light-vehicle radio separation rule. 1. Mine roads owner approves traffic plan, intersection controls and live diversions. 2. Dump-edge berm, approach angle and tip-head bearing condition checked. 3. Spotter presence, radio protocol and light-vehicle exclusion distance controlled. 4. Road width, grade, curvature, sight line and speed class fit truck envelope.
5. Rain, dust, ice, fog and visibility restrictions communicated to the shift. 6. Proximity/collision warning, dynamic signs and traffic changes commissioned. 7. Roadwork barriers, safe pull-offs, drainage and emergency access retained.
