253 / AP-C01 — BLASTING SUPPORT PRE-START AND MINE INTERFACE CHECKLIST

AP-C01 is AVC's original editable seven-control Word pre-start and mine-interface checklist for contractor support alongside controlled blasting operations. Its first step verifies that the mine blast officer—not the contractor—holds firing, explosives and clearance authority for the specific approved work zone.

WHY THESE BLAST SUPPORT SAFEGUARDS MATTER

A contractor may arrive for survey, plant maintenance or temporary support during a blast programme and unintentionally work inside a changing exclusion zone. Pre-start checks need the current controlled map, headcount, warning equipment, safe equipment location and shared understanding of post-blast restrictions.

SEVEN ORIGINAL WORKFACE VERIFICATION CHECKS

1. Mine blast officer retains explosives, firing and clearance authority; contractor scope defined. 2. Obtain controlled revised blast exclusion map and refuge routes. 3. Account for crews, subcontractors and vehicles before evacuation. 4. Test radios, sirens, blast timetable and boundary marshal controls.

5. Park contractor plant outside foreseeable flyrock and blast damage zone. 6. Recognise post-blast fume, dust, unstable rock and unexploded hazards. 7. No re-entry until mine blast officer and geotechnical checks issue area clearance.

SOURCE CONTROL FIELDS, REAL EVIDENCE AND AUTHORITY

The printed source uses seven WORKFACE VERIFICATION / REQUIRED CONTROL rows with Y / N / N/A and EVIDENCE / DEFECT / ACTION. Enter the true MINE / PIT / WORK AREA, WORK ORDER / MINE ZONE, DATE / SHIFT / PERMIT, supervisor, blast map and clearance details. No contractor can treat a completed Y column as a blast permit.

The original HOLD requires stopping for a missing clearance, isolation, protective control or critical evidence. REVIEW / CLOSE-OUT uses separate contractor supervisor and MINE RELEASE AUTHORITY signatures and DATE / RELEASE REF; mine-issued clearance remains essential.
